Our Immunization Services for Children

At Van Buren Cass District Health Department we offer all routinely recommended vaccines to people of all ages. We follow the ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices) recommended vaccine schedule for 0-18 years and 19 years and older.

We participate with the VFC Program (Vaccines for Children) which is a federally funded vaccine program for children.

Our staff educate all area providers about the MCIR (Michigan Care Improvement Registry) which is the state-wide immunization registry and the importance of participating in the VFC program.

We provide Immunization Waiver Education Sessions by appointment.

We offer COVID-19 Vaccines, and during the fall season we offer additional community clinics to administer flu vaccinations.

VFC (Vaccines for Children) Program

Children: birth through age 18 can get vaccine through the VFC program if they are at least one of the following:

  • Medicaid Eligible
  • Have NO health insurance
  • Are Native American or Alaskan Native
  • Have health insurance that does not cover immunizations

If your child qualifies for VFC vaccine: There is a $23.00 Administration fee per vaccine with a maximum out of pocket of $69.00. If you cannot afford to pay the vaccine administration fee, we will ask you to pay what you can. No one will be denied services, Administration fees will be waived for those who cannot afford.

Privately Insured Children and Adolescents

The Health Department is an immunization provider for some private insurance companies and can bill those insurance companies directly for services upon verification of coverage.

You MUST provide your insurance information when you call to schedule. Our staff will verify participation with your plan and your coverage levels, as well as vaccine availability prior to your appointment.

There is a $23.00 administration fee for each injection given in addition to the cost of the vaccine. You will be responsible for any amount not covered by your insurance policy.
