Adolescent use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs impact the health and socioeconomic well being of the population. The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) and other research efforts measure adolescent use of drugs. Between 1997 and 1999 the use of alcohol by adolescents decreased. However, the use of tobacco and other drugs showed little to no change in their usage or popularity. In general, twelfth graders were more likely to use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs than were younger students.
