Cancer is the second leading cause of death in Michigan.  Cancer refers to more than 100 different diseases, each characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells.  The most common cancers in Michigan, Cass and Van Buren Counties are colorectal, lung, breast, and prostate cancer.  However, lung cancer in Cass County exceeded the rates in Van Buren and Michigan.

Cancer Death Rates are presented in the Chronic Disease Community Report Cards for Van Buren and Cass Counties.
