Our mission to prevent deaths and injuries to children ages 14 and under from: motor vehicle crashes and pedestrian injuries, bike crashes, drowning, fires and scald burns, poisonings, unintentional shootings, falls, and airway obstructions.  The national campaign was launched in 1988 to address what was then a little recognized problem: more children under age 14 were dying from what people call “accidents” than from any other cause.  In the past decade the national death rate for unintentional injury to children has declined more than 33 percent.

The Chapter's goals include:

*Delivering  educational messages and materials for injury prevention.

*Holding childhood injury prevention activities in Van Buren County.

*Collecting and analyzing local child injury data, to make decisions on the prevention initiatives needed in Van Buren County.
